RIMELLA
Situata all’interno del Parco Naturale Alta Valsesia, Rimella è composta da 16 frazioni disposte a terrazza lungo le pendici della montagna. Probabilmente è la più antica tra le colonie Walser fondate in Valsesia a partire dal XIII secolo.
In passato furono scoperte e adeguatamente sfruttate diverse miniere: oro, nichel e cobalto.
Numerose le traversate, le ascensioni e le escursioni possibili: oltre alle cime dei monti circostanti è possibile raggiungere la Valle Strona e la Valle Anzasca seguendo il sentiero del GTA (Gran Tour Des Alpes).
La Parrocchiale dedicata a San Michele è una delle più originali della Valsesia: a pianta ovoidale con quattro cappelle, fu riedificata nel 1777 sulla base della precedente eretta nel 1528.
A Rimella è inoltre presente un Museo Etnografico Walser, che ricostruisce la cultura materiale legata alle tradizioni, ai mestieri tipici, all’alimentazione e ai rimedi naturali impiegati dal popolo walser.
RIMELLA
This is situated within the Alta Valsesia Natural Park and is made of 16 hamlets spread along the mountain slope. It is probably the oldest of the Walser colonies which were founded in Valsesia starting from the XIII century.
In the past several mines were discovered and exploited: gold, nickel and cobalt.
There are many crossings, climbs and trips in the area: all the surrounding mountain tops and the Strona and Anzasca Valleys, which can be reached following the GTA (Grande Traversata delle Apli– Alps Great track) foot path.
The Saint Michael parish is one of the most distinctive in Valsesia. It is egg-shaped and has four chapels. It was rebuilt in 1777 on the basis of a preceding 1528 parish.
Also in Rimella, there is an Ethnographic Walser Museum, which reconstructs the material culture linked to traditions, traditional trades, nutrition and natural remedies used by the Walser people.
